Our businesses operate nearly 130 manufacturing, distribution, and service facilities, employing around 6,400+ people worldwide.
We attribute our success to our shared values and company culture – the Crawford Culture. It is a strategy crafted by Edward F. Crawford when he acquired a substantial stake of ParkOhio in June 1992. Crawford’s approach was to provide exemplary leadership while developing a decentralized culture. One that delivers to our brands both the support and autonomy they need to succeed.

Crawford’s vision led us through the early 2000s, as we focused on scale and building out our portfolio. Now, as ParkOhio moves into the mid-century, our efforts shift to acquisition strategy refinement, ensuring we retain our business diversity approach and new organizations extend our brand, whether that’s through access to new territory or a natural extension of the businesses we own.
Mining our portfolio to find our best brands – both those already leading the market and those with potential to grow – and developing greater support vehicles and business solutions to help them overachieve is a central part of that strategy, as well.
We’re calling it ParkOhio 3.0 – an evolution that will open new doors and greater opportunities. And we’re secure in our success because we know ParkOhio’s Crawford Culture foundation will see us through.
Our story begins with the formation of two companies: Park Drop Forge in 1907 and Ohio Crankshaft in 1920. Park Drop Forge made closed die forgings for crankshafts, camshafts, and other parts for trucks, buses, and diesel locomotives, and Ohio Crankshaft finished machine crankshafts and camshafts for diesel engines.
The two transportation manufacturing companies merged in 1967, becoming ParkOhio Industries. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, ParkOhio diversified by adding industrial plastics and rubber manufacturing, as well as expanding its induction heating expertise.
In 1992, Edward F. Crawford acquired a substantial stake of ParkOhio and was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Crawford seized the opportunity redirect the company, which had begun to stumble during the economically tumultuous late ‘80s. Crawford took a calculated risk and invested aggressively in growth.
Under Crawford’s direction, and the establishment of the Crawford Culture, ParkOhio grew significantly, through both organic growth and acquisitions. The company established leading market positions across a variety of industries, including supply chain management services, aluminum products, forging and induction heating. With the 2012 acquisition of Fluid Routing Solutions Inc., a highly successful manufacturer of hydraulic fluid assemblies and fuel filter and hose products, ParkOhio expanded its product offerings to existing and new industrial customers worldwide.
